Common Questions — Aetna Coverage
How do I know if Dr. Hariprasad is in-network for my Aetna plan?
We are credentialed with Aetna for outpatient psychiatric services. Specific plans vary, so we recommend calling Aetna’s member services number on the back of your card to confirm that Dr. Ravi Hariprasad is in-network under your plan.
What will my out-of-pocket cost be?
As an in-network provider, your costs are determined by your Aetna plan — typically a copay ($20–60) or a coinsurance percentage after your deductible is met. Call Aetna and ask about your mental health benefits for CPT codes 90792 (initial evaluation) and 99213–99215 (follow-up visits). We’re happy to help you estimate your costs before your first visit.
Do I need a referral from my primary care doctor?
Most Aetna plans allow self-referral for outpatient mental health services — no referral needed. Some HMO plans may require one. Check your plan details or call Aetna to confirm.
Do you offer video visits (telepsychiatry)?
Yes. After an initial in-person visit at our Union Square office, follow-up appointments can be conducted via secure video. Telepsychiatry is typically covered by Aetna at the same rate as in-person visits.
What should I expect at my first visit?
Your first visit is a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation — we look at medical, psychological, and lifestyle factors to develop a clear, individualized treatment plan. It’s thorough, collaborative, and designed to give you real clarity about what’s going on and what will help.
